Artist Bio
Jon John is a self-taught, first-generation Caribbean American artist born and raised in the Atlanta area, where he continues to live and work. Using acrylic paint, marker, oil stick, and ink on canvas and wood panels, he creates large-scale neo-expressionist paintings filled with distorted figures, fragmented architecture, recurring symbols, and urgent mark-making. His compositions transform everyday life into scenes that feel crowded, playful, uneasy, and alive.
John’s visual language is shaped by the Trinidadian cultural inheritance passed down by his mother and grandmother, the energy of Atlanta, and the contrasting environments that defined his upbringing. Through his work, he explores memory, community, desire, and survival. His paintings have been exhibited at Atlanta Contemporary and Kai Lin Art in exhibitions including Thirty Summers, Lustrous, Harmony, and Synergy. He has been an exhibiting artist with Kai Lin Art since 2024.
